Nestled in the heart of the Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve, Roots @ Tshikwalo is more than a restaurant – it’s a place to gather. Open to both overnight guests and day visitors, Roots brings people together over exceptional food, warm hospitality and the beauty of the bushveld.
Inspired by the tree that has long been the symbol of Tshikwalo, Roots celebrates connection, belonging and new beginnings. Built on familiar ground and rooted in the same spirit, it honours the past while embracing a new chapter – one where every meal is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and create lasting memories.

FAQ
When is the Roots open?
We serve all three meals of the day, six days a week. Sunday evenings and Mondays are our closed days, so plan your meals around that if you’re staying with us over those nights.
Do I need to be staying at Tshikwalo to eat at the restaurant?
No. Roots welcomes overnight guests and day visitors. No bookings are required – first come first served.
What's included in the Romantic Bush Dinner?
A private table for two in one of our dedicated bush areas, lanterns and candlelight, a waiter looking after your table, chilled drinks, and a full dinner. The price is R530 per adult (R380 for the dinner and R150 for the set-up fee).
