lso very good news for the cheetah metapopulation in South Africa and Africa as a whole. Currently mother (see communication of the 16th of October 2020) and daughter both have very young cubs at the same time, let’s hope all survive and give them space and time until they decide to show their cubs to us!
The DGR currently has 19 cheetah, 11 cubs, 2 adult males, 3 adult females, 2 sub adult females and 1 sub adult male which will be moved to Amakhosi Game Reserve in the near future. In conjunction with the EWT metapopulation programme the males and extra females can either be swapped or sold at between R 20 000 for males and R40 000 for females depending on the industry, which will in turn be used for conservation projects in the DGR like purchasing tracking collars.
