Lions scent mark their territories actively and usually only roar at night or early morning when they are most active and also because noise levels are lower at those times so the sound of their roar will travel further.

The males have big, beautiful manes that protect them during fighting.However, the mane also makes it easier to be spotted while hunting.This is one of the reasons why the females are usually the ones who do the hunting.
Lions are the only cats that live in groups called prides.
