let us introduce ourselves
Tshikwalo Lodge is owned by prosthodontist Dr. Anton Grotius and his wife, Lucia. Together they have transformed an uncut gem into a dream destination for bush and nature lovers alike.
Being situated in Big Five Country, Tshikwalo has a team of dedicated game guides that have a passion for Dinokeng and its fauna and flora and they enjoy sharing their knowledge with visitors from around the world. Our culinary team ensures that each dish and drink at the restaurant complements your stay at our lodge and our vegetable garden provides fresh produce for the most scrumptious meals.
We believe a good night's rest is very important to both young and old. It is our accommodation team's main focus to guarantee that each visitor has a pleasant stay at Tshikwalo Game Lodge and together with our event and wedding coordinators we are driven to make every visit, special occasion and wedding hassle-free and memorable.
Dinokeng AREA/GAME RESERVE
The name of the Dinokeng Game Reserve is derived from the languages of the baTswana and baPedi people who traditionally inhabited the area. Meaning “a place of rivers”, Dinokeng lies in the catchment area of two rivers that flow into the Olifants and Limpopo rivers and on to the Indian Ocean.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve is a partnership between landowners, the Gauteng Government, Blue IQ and local communities. A sizable 18 500 hectares of ‘bushveld’ in north-east Gauteng, the reserve includes an interesting biodiversity which includes both the Big-5 and Dinokeng Little 5, numerous bird species, trees, shrubs, flowers and more - only 60 minutes from Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria.
Escape the busyness of city life and spend a few days close to nature to relax, refresh your soul, de-stress and appreciate the magnificence of the African bush at Dinokeng. This malaria-free area offers a variety of activities including game viewing, restaurants, hiking, bird watching, conference facilities, wedding venues, vibrant traditional culture and places of historical interest.
